Autumn McLeod-Whitstone is a Scottish-Cree artist residing in her hometown of Edmonton/Amiskwacîwâskahikan (ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ). Currently completing her BFA in Studio Arts at MacEwan University, Autumn creates non-literal self portraits with acrylic paints and mixed media, using an extensive knowledge of symbolism and a recurring motif of rabbits as a proxy for her sense of self. Their work personifies the rabbit in various different physical forms to approach themes of mental health, trauma, feminism, and nostalgia.
